Bass great Noel Neal dies at 54

Bass player Noel Neal has died at the age of 54. Neal played bass with a who’s who of blues icons; he was the regular bass player in the James Cotton Band for decades, and also played with Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Johnny Winter, and many more.

He’s part of a deeply rooted musical family. His brother Kenny Neal posted on Monday:


Noel recorded with Kenny last year on the Grammy nominated album Bloodline.
