Hope you love him as much as we do. We’ve had this rooster a long time and never could figure out what color he needed to be or where to place him in our home. Our story goes like this…
Being parents of a large family and tons of responsibilities, never enough time to enjoy life, we finally embraced the blues . A desire to meet Buddy Guy and to experience the club and Chicago in winter we arrived to have the time of our life with you wonderful folks at Buddy Guys Legends! We were in awe all 3 nights at Buddy’s performance. One of those evenings he told a story about living way out from town and offering to help a lady who had asked him to give her away in an upcoming marriage ceremony. He said he would be delighted and invited the couple to come out to see him and discuss the particulars.
Well, the folks never made it, and he didn’t quite understand until he ran into her later and asked what happened. She said she did make the drive, but that when they got close it was getting dark and all they could hear were animal noises (not to mention that roosters and chickens were free ranging). The lady told her husband to-be that she must have the wrong address and so they left. BUT, in fact, she didn’t have the wrong address. Buddy’s neighbor’s chickens were on the loose, to the point that the animals were roaming into Buddy’s driveway and yard.
The night he told the story at Legends, his neighbor was at the show sitting at the table next to us! So the dilemma of what to paint the rooster in my kitchen and where he would be placed was solved. My granddaughter thinks “George” (the rooster) is just AWESOME in the words of a three year old. My sister said, “he doesn’t match” and loves him in spite. My son said “SERIOUSLY!” All eyes are bright and faces are smiling in our house when folks come calling. And so the love of a son for his mother lives in our house, to share with those that we love. Thank you Buddy and Legends we will see you in January 2014.
